Nga Rakau Triathlon Reflection

Reflection for Nga Rakau Triathlon

· Something I was pleased with was that I crossed the finish line with a smile on my face because I knew that I had finished.

· I really enjoyed learning how hard it actually was to do 4 lengths of the pool after you have done a bike because I was on gear 6 and it was really hard so my legs had to work hard.
· Something I found hard was running with a sore knee and calf muscle.
· Something that made me think was what place I was coming in the race because I wanted to make my family proud.
· Something I want to get better at is swimming when I am puffed.
What can I do about it?

Work harder at swimming lessons so I can swim more iffitiontly.

I am really proud of myself because I tried my best and I did not give up when I was running with a sore calf Muscle and a sore Knee. I ended up coming 5th.

Balloon Rocket Experiment

Balloon Rocket

Hypothesis (What I think will happen)
I think that it won’t go really far but it will still work.

Materials
  • String 10m
  • Straw
  • Balloon
  • 2 chairs
  • Sello tape

Method (What we did)
  1. Tie or tape string to the chairs
  2. Place the straw on the string with it going through
  3. Blow up the balloon do not close off the end
  4. Pinch together the end then tape the big body part to the straw with the open facing the way that there is no string.
  5. What and see what happens.

Observation (What happened)
The balloon went flying because the air was all rushing out of one hole and that caused it to go flying.

Conclusion (Why I think it happened)

Because the air was all rushing out and making the balloon move.

Joey Pigza swallowed the Key

Joey pigza Swallowed The Key from Room16 Parkvale on Vimeo.

Last week, Bree, Olivia, Lily and I made a trailer on the book that our class has been reading, Joey Pigza swallowed the Key. I was Mrs Maxy, Bree was Joey, Olivia was Mum and Lily was the filmer and the Principal. I really enjoyed making the trailer because I think that the book is really funny so we get to have some fun making it and being not our normal selves.

The guinea pig babies are here!

Minti, Tiger Lily, Fudge and Sherbet.
My family has been waiting for ages for our guinea pigs to have their babies and it happened on Saturday and Sunday. Our first guinea pig named Daisy had her babies on the 9/11/13 8:30am. Daisy had a litter of four but one passed away at birth. Our other guinea pig named Cookie, had her first one on the 9/11/13 7:30pm and she had her second one at 8:00am 10/11/13 but that guinea pig passed away as well. The babies are about the size of a kiwifruit and they are all so cute and different colours. They all weighed different weights. Minti weighed 129 grams and so did Sherbet. Tiger Lily weighed 122 grams. They were all Daisy's babies. Cookies babies were all bigger than Daisy's babies. Fudge weighed 152 grams and the baby that died from Cookie weighed 180 grams. What I find sad it that my mum had to help Cookie with both of her babies so mum had to pull the babies out other wise Cookie could have died. We all can't believe that Fudge is alive because she was nearly dead when she came out but Ruby and I had to rub the baby in a towel and get its heart beating and now Fudge is alive.
Hello, my name is Minti and my mum is Daisy.

Hello, my name is Fudge and my mum is Cookie.

Hi, my name is Tiger Lily and my mum is Daisy.

Hi, my name is Sherbet and my mum is Daisy.

Praying Mantis Everywhere

After Volleyball on Thursday afternoon, Dad and I were digging in the garden, pruning the tomatoes when we came across a praying mantis home. I know that you might be thinking that it is not that exciting but I found it really exciting because the baby praying mantises were hatching out of their eggs. I looked and saw them and I thought. that is a big egg for so little amount of praying mantis but I looked around the pole and they were EVERYWHERE.

Here are some images so you can see what I saw.

I have never seen this before!

They are EVERYWHERE!

Ninja Python

Ninja Python
By Lily and Hannah.

The Ninja Python is the most terrifying creature of them all. Watch out because they have Ninja stars that come out if their mouth which will chop off your head. The Ninja Python is quite rare but furious. Do you know how to defend your self from one? Read on to find out facts about them and learn how to defend yourself.

Why is this creature so terrifying?
This Ninja Python is terrifying because it has eight eyes in the back of its head so do not try to follow one. They have ninja stars growing down their spine and they rip one out when they want to throw one at you. The stars grow back as soon as they are removed from their body. The ninja python is able to jump up off the ground and wrap itself around your neck and strangle you to death.  If you dare to go through their territory they will
If you are walking through the Ninja City, under trees, they might attack you from above. They have the skills of a black belt in being a Ninja and they are not scared to attach you. They are able to change colours to blend in with their surrounding. They can shoot acid from their mouth and burn down your house.

What damage can they do?
First to start off with they can kill you. They can chop off your head, strangle you to death and throw ninja stars at you head. They can knock down your house by shooting their acid.

Diet
Humans, Fruit, Dirt , Zombie Pigs, Demon Leopard, Giant Lobsters , Ninja Hot Dogs and Egg Salad. Their favourite food is Zebra Hearts and Zebra Eyeballs.

Conclusion

Now that you know how terrifying these creatures are , don’t go any where near them or they will slice your head off.

Mathletics

Over the last past week I have been designing a mathletics poster for maths. I have just finished and I think that it looks pretty cool. I am going to enter it in a competition with all of the other childrens designs.
Hope you like it!
Please comment.

Reflection for Mathletics
Something I was pleased with was that my design went well because I didn’t do that much mistakes.
I really enjoyed learning how to draw different designs because some of them I have never done before.

Something I found hard was drawing the circle in vivid because the vivid didn’t fit in the compass.
Something that made me think was what design was going to do for my final design because I wanted it to look really cool.
Something I want to get better at is not making big blobs in the middle of my design when I can’t draw the circles.

What can I do about it? Find a different way to get the vivid in the compass.

Submarine or Boat

Boat or Submarine
Scientists: Hannah and Olivia

Question/Goal/ problem
What shape of container will hold the most weight ?

Hypothesis (The shape I have chosen and why I think it is the best shape)
Olivia and I have chosen a pan shape because we think that if it is spread out it will float better and we can fit heaps in it.

Materials
Container filled with water, modelling clay, old coins

Method (What I did)
Create a boat out of modelling clay.
Fill the container with water.
Place the boat carefully onto the water so it floats.
One at a time , put coins carefully into the boat . Count how many coins are in the boat before it sinks.
Observation/ Analyse (What happened and why I think it happened)
Our creation floated and carried seven coins because it was spread out and light. It was also big so it could carry more coins.

Conclusion  (What I discovered about floating/ sinking )

I found out the a piece of paper could float and carry 5 coins because when Mr Ford put the coins in the middle it was pushing the middle down and making the sides float.
